Hello!

.

My name is Anna. I was born and raised in Southern California. I started painting and drawing at an early age.

I was a strange yet creative child with a rebellious and free spirit.

I can see that young girl in her room, drawing and telling a story aloud to her imaginary friends (I’ve always been a storyteller, a writer). She was wildly imaginative and always asking questions.

Not much as changed beyond the mediums I’ve chosen to express my imagination and investigate through my process and receive the answers to all my questions.

My earliest memories of art are drawing landscapes and clothing. This love affair for nature and design has never left me. I remember as a young girl how I loved to play outside and dress myself. Nothing made me happier than being under the sun and wearing my favorite colors (you could find me in blue and pink).

I found that nature nourished me in ways I could not explain. I didn’t have the most stable or supportive childhood yet making art gave me space to express myself. Creating art has always been like entering a sacred temple. A sanctuary for my wild and restless soul.

In 2008, I moved to Los Angeles to study fashion design at Otis College of Art and Design. I graduated in 2012 with a BFA and left California to pursue my career in New York City. I began to work countless 80 hour weeks for four and a half years til I exhausted myself. On the brink of a nervous breakdown, I decided to take a break, to give my creativity some well needed rest.

In 2016, I began painting. The hours I would spend alone with canvas and paint were the most fulfilling and meditative spaces in time. Which is why I will never stop practicing and experimenting.

Fully enamored with the practice, I knew painting was what I needed to be doing. Since then, I have been on this beautiful journey of exploring new styles, techniques, and playing with new mediums. I left New York in the pursuit of freedom, experiencing a different culture, lifestyle and inspiration. I landed in Southern Mexico in the final months of 2020. I have been rooting along the Oaxacan Coast and traveling in-between exploring wild landscapes wherever I go.

I am inspired by my surroundings, by the phenomenon of life itself, light, tone, and warmth: the four aethers. I am infinitely inspired by Mother Nature; her colors, her perfect design, her shapes, her power.

We are all children of the Earth and every painting is a prayer for peace. Each one of my paintings conveys a message of love, gratitude, beauty, and patience. You can see the four markings on my paintings. They are four 1’s. Each representative of the aethers: warmth, tone, light, and life.

1111 represents the gates of growth I walk through on this artistic path. 1111 is a portal of consciousness I choose to enter in my daily artistic practice. Synchronistically, the sum of 1111 equals four which parallels the characters in my given name, Anna.

The four markings represent the four aethers, four seasons, four phases of the moon, four winds, four elements, four directions, and fourth dimension.

Warmth, Tone, Light, and Life aethers support my process and the work that I create. Painting brings me peace and offers me a place to meditate on the beauty of existence, the phenomenon of living.

My highest goal is to convey that same peace and belonging to my collectors, offering a moment or pause & a feeling of deep belonging.  It touches every vision I hold for the present and future.

In signing my work with 1111, I find totality.
